Sid Krofft (1929–2026), the legendary puppeteer and television producer who co-created some of the most imaginative children's shows of the 1970s, died on April 10, 2026, at the age of 96. Alongside his brother Marty Krofft (who passed away in 2023), he built an entertainment empire characterized by "psychedelic camp," large-headed puppets, and high-concept fantasy worlds.

The Krofft brothers were pivotal in shaping Saturday morning television and variety programs:
H.R. Pufnstuf (1969): Their first independent live-action series, featuring a boy named Jimmy trapped on Living Island with a friendly dragon mayor.
Land of the Lost (1974–1976): A science fiction series about a family trapped in an alternate universe with dinosaurs and Sleestaks.
Variety Shows: They produced hits like Donny & Marie, The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, and Barbara Mandrell & the Mandrell Sisters.

Vaudeville Roots: Sid began as a street performer at age 10 and eventually toured with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
Adult Puppetry: Before their TV fame, they created Les Poupées de Paris, an elaborate adult puppet revue featuring mature themes, pools, and ice rinks.

Sid and Marty were honored with a Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 2018 and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2020. Despite frequent rumors that their trippy visual style was influenced by drugs, the brothers consistently maintained that their creativity was simply "bizarre" and purely imaginative. In his final years, Sid remained active by hosting a celebrity interview series on Instagram titled Sundays With Sid.
