Franklin from “Peanuts” stars in his own TV special called “Welcome Home Franklin.” His character emerged from the turmoil of 1968. Weeks after Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination, “Peanuts” creator Charles Shultz introduced a Black character. Franklin became a small but impactful symbol of racial harmony, but a scene from the 1973 Thanksgiving special is now viewed as a terrible slight. A half-century later, Franklin is finally taking his proper place at the table.

Odysseus makes historic lunar landing Welcome to the moon with ART!

With the lunar touchdown of the Odysseus spacecraft on Thursday, the world’s most expensive living artist has now earned a new, 

space-age superlative: His creation is now the first “authorized” work of art on the moon.

So what is Koons exhibiting on the lonely lunar surface? Contained in the aforementioned box are 125 mini-sculptures of the moon, measuring about one inch in diameter. Called “Moon Phases,” 

they show 62 phases of the moon as seen from Earth, 62 phases visible from other viewpoints in space, and one lunar eclipse.

Each sculpture is inscribed with the name of a groundbreaking figure in human history, including Aristotle, David Bowie, Leonardo da Vinci, Gandhi, Billie Holiday, Gabriel García Márquez,

The Garden of Time Theme Met Gala 2024

Zendaya’s long-awaited return to the Met Gala is coming with a new title — she'll be co-chair of the event alongside Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Organizers announced today that the official dress code for the event, which will take place on May 6, is “The Garden of Time.” The theme takes its title from a 1962 short story written by British author J. G. Ballard, set (as its title suggests) in a garden filled with translucent, time-manipulating flowers.

Ballard, who is closely associated with New Wave science fiction, often set his searingly relevant dystopian stories in eras of ecological apocalypse or rising dissenting technologies.

2024 will be the Year of the Wood Dragon. You may know that the Chinese Zodiac consists of twelve animal signs, but each year also includes one of the 5 elements, metal, water, wood, fire, and earth. Each of those elements has associated meanings.
