"JuneteenthFlag" Feedom Day 2021
On June 19th, 1865 General Gordon Granger of the Union Army dispatched this order in Galveston, Texas: "The people of Texas are informed that in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free." This announcement came more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.
