A portrait found in a Maine attic unexpectedly sold for $1.4M. Could it be a long-lost Rembrandt?


 17th-century Rembrandt portrait, which he discovered during a routine house call to a private estate in Camden, Maine. Thomaston Place Auction Gallerie

Found with a label claiming it was painted by Dutch master Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn.

The portrait, which was sold in late August, was painted on a cradled oak panel and was discovered mounted in a hand-carved gold Dutch frame.
