This time, we experienced the Sky Cycle at Brazilian Park Washuzan Highland in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture—said to be “Japan's scariest... no, the world's scariest!?” aerial bicycle ride.
You pedal to move forward yourself, with no safety harness—just a seatbelt. From 16 meters above ground, you gaze at breathtaking views of the Seto Inland Sea and Seto Ohashi Bridge while creaking sounds wash over you, bringing terror and exhilaration all at once.
The park features a chaotic yet nostalgic lineup of attractions: Brazilian-style dance shows, bingo tournaments, the 2024 addition “Yokosukananger,” the fully transparent Ferris wheel “Sketanger,” and a Showa-era retro carousel and aerial swings.
Plus, at the Jungle Cafe inside the park, you can enjoy a rather daring afternoon snack: alligator meat and sugarcane juice.
It's an amusement park with an overwhelmingly strong personality, yet somehow you'll find yourself wanting to go back.
When you visit Okayama, be sure to muster up your “courage” and give it a try.
