Ancient cave art discovery suggests first known humans in Ireland walked over from Wales

Researchers believe the first known humans to set foot on Ireland thousands of years ago were most likely from Wales, following the "exciting" discovery of ancient cave art.

During the most recent Ice Age, when much of the British Isles were beneath a vast continental glacier, the depleted sea levels opened a "lost land bridge" between modern-day Pembrokeshire and the south-east tip of Ireland, around Rosslare.

Probably not intended to be permanent at the time, made by three or four fingers gouged into soft layers of cave walls, flutings were probably early human children's initiation into interpretive rock art [George Nash - Lost Land Bridge Project]

Most titanosaur eggs and eggshells, like those of other dinosaurs, have been found in lower-latitude regions closer to the equator, where warmer temperatures would have made incubating the eggs easier.

Scientists think these long-necked, small-brained, plant-eating giants — part of a group known as sauropods — lived in herds and may have migrated over long distances, nesting in the same place for millennia.

"Some of the very largest animals in Earth's history were laying eggs and hatching their babies at high latitudes in the Cretaceous, which is a new fact about dinosaur biology and behaviour that makes us better appreciate their adaptability and resiliency."

Paul Upchurch, a professor of paleobiology at University College London said that sauropod remains are rare at high latitudes and it had been thought that the giants moved to these areas during warm summers before returning closer to the equator.

South Park "South America" Season 29 will debut Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central

"South Park" changed its name to "South America" ahead of Season 29. (Comedy Central)

 Because of this,
we get a whole season of  "South Park, South America"

Season 29 will debut Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central, with new episodes streaming the next day on Paramount+. New episodes are slated to premiere Sept. 30, Oct. 14, Oct. 28, Nov. 11 and Nov. 25.

 Trump and Vance

The name shift matches Trump's desire to rename geographic regions to incorporate "America," including the August executive order to rename Lake Ontario to "Lake America," as well as floating the possibility of renaming New Mexico to "New America."

"South Park" team celebrated their Emmy win for outstanding animated program by mocking Trump. The "South Park" official X account posted, "Congratulations to Trey Parker, Matt Stone and the entire South Park team on their Emmy win," alongside a cartoon version of Trump with his underwear by his ankles and an Emmy statue in hand.

"You finally got your Emmy," the graphic read, mocking Trump for not having receiving an Emmy award.

Trump was nominated for an Emmy twice for NBC's "The Apprentice," which landed nods in the outstanding reality competition program category in both 2004 and 2005. Trump's series lost to CBS' "The Amazing Race" both years.

"South Park" won its first Emmy award since 2013 on Saturday, reclaiming its dominance after winning five times between 2005 and 2013.

Renoir paintings from French museum, Thieves steal four dropping two as they flee

"Jeune femme au puits" is still missing. Renoir Museum

"Madame Colonna Romano" remains missing. Renoir Museum

"Portrait de Madame Stephen Pichon" has been recovered. Renoir Museum

"Coco lisant" has been found. Renoir Museum

Thieves took less than five minutes to steal four paintings from the Renoir Museum in southern France on Tuesday, abandoning two as they fled, in the latest heist targeting art and cultural artifacts.

The incident has sparked calls for better security for cultural institutions, with the local mayor’s office urging the French government to provide additional funding to help protect collections “against increasingly organised and determined criminals.”

The museum’s alarm system went off at 5:48 a.m. local time Tuesday (11:48 p.m. ET Monday), and police arrived at the scene five minutes later, said Bryan Masson, mayor of Cagnes-sur-Mer, where the museum is located, in a post on Facebook.

Four of the 12 works by Impressionist artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir displayed at the museum were stolen, the mayor’s office said in a statement. As the thieves fled, they were “forced to abandon” two of the paintings.

“Renoir has been one of the more frequently stolen artists of the last century,” with thefts in 1951, 1985, 1990, 2000 and this past March 2026.

Prince Purple Rain Musical Previews Begins At The Majestic Theatre March 12th 2027

Prince in the 1984 film ‘Purple Rain.’

Following an initial run in Minneapolis last fall, the show — based on Prince’s classic 1984 album and accompanying film —  began previews at the Majestic Theatre in New York City on March 12, 2027, with opening night slated for tonight April 12. A cast hasn’t been announced yet, but Tony nominee Saheem Ali will direct; playwright/screenwriter Peter Duchan penned the book; and Ebony Williams will handle choreography.

The show’s all-important music team will be led by composer and musical director Jason Michael Webb, who recently worked on the Michael Jackson musical MJ. Two of Prince’s longtime collaborators are also serving as music advisers: Keyboardist Morris Hayes and drummer Bobby Z.

“Prince was an icon and Purple Rain is iconic; one of the best musical films of my generation,” Ali said in a statement. “I watched it as a teenager in Kenya, and though I was appropriately scandalized, it never left me, especially the music. Our aim is not only to honor the legacy that Prince built, but to make his timeless music feel urgent and alive, passing it on to the next generation of fans who will make it their own.”

The Purple Rain musical effectively boasts the same plot as Prince’s semi-autobiographical film. In the movie, Prince starred as “The Kid,” an up-and-coming musician in Minneapolis, who grapples with a troubled past while seeking out stardom. While the show, of course, features music from Purple Rain, its soundtrack reportedly includes renditions of over 20 Prince tracks.

Speaking with Rolling Stone in 2024 as production on the musical got underway, Bobby Z (a.k.a. Bobby Rivkin) spoke about why a Purple Rain stage musical made sense, and recalled how inspired Prince was by shows like Rent and Hamilton. He even remembered Prince suggesting they take one of the other projects to the stage.

“He didn’t think he could personally do it, because it’s a different animal,” Rivkin said. “But he lit up on that. Which gives me a feeling that [Purple Rain] going forward is in the spirit of something creatively in his orbit.”

Prince Timeless Release

PRINCE People Cover Sept 2026

  • PEOPLE is celebrating Prince with a newly updated special edition in honor of his posthumous album Timeless

  • Timeless features 10 rare Prince recordings, showcasing his genre-blending talent and evolution over five decades

  • The album includes unreleased tracks like "I Am You" and live performances, offering fans a glimpse into Prince's legacy

Recorded in 1977 when Prince was just 19, "I Am You" offers a glimpse of the icon-to-be workshopping his signature Minneapolis Sound: swaggering funk merged with the prerequisite disco of the era. A keyboard synth line proves that Prince's gift for criminally infectious grooves revealed itself early. (It also hints at his future as a musical mentor: That riff would resurface on 1982's "I Don't Wanna Leave You" from his protégés the Time.) But the song didn't make it onto his debut album, 1978's For You. And save for a fortunate few who can claim to have been in the audience of Prince's Jan. 5, 1979, debut show at Minneapolis's Capri Theater—when the young man onstage appeared so nervous at times he turned his back to the crowd and mumbled between numbers with his eyes closed—no one had heard it in decades.

"'I Am You' was a beautiful find," says L. Londell McMillan, a compilation producer and attorney for the estate. (McMillan was the lawyer who negotiated the split from Warner Bros. in 1996, giving Prince control of future releases.) "You can hear how he became a prolific artist. Listening to Timeless is like traveling in a time machine through five decades,"
